After beating out thousands of hopefuls and her fellow top 10 contestants, Berry is the winner of “Idols SA” season 17.
The 30-year-old mother cried tears of joy as host ProVerb announced she had won this year’s of the show, as she and runner-up Karabo embraced.
More than 12.5 million votes were cast this week, with the public making Berry an instant millionaire, courtesy of Mzansi Magic, Old Mutual, Darling Hair and Vodacom.
Of course, along with the rest of the top 5, she also scores a recording deal with the iconic Kalawa Jazmee Records.
She also walks away with a slew of other prizes, namely: a Renault Kiger valued at over R269 000, R100 000 in Truworths fashion vouchers, a Bachelor of Business Administration bursary valued at over R260 000 from Regenesys Business School and R85 000 worth of musical equipment from Yamaha, as well as a Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 on a Vodacom Red 100GB Plan.
For the Capetonian, this moment is the culmination of 22 years of nurturing her talent and dreaming of making it big.
Earlier this year, she joined 15 000 other “Idols SA” hopefuls to, just one more time, take her shot at stardom and audition for the show.
To think that part of the 12MILLION+ VOTES received were from you, for her, is just heartwarming.

This was not Berry’s first time standing on the Idols SA stage – way back in season 6 in 2010, she had reached the top 30 before being eliminated from the show.
This often prompted judge Unathi Nkayi to remark that she was an inspiration to those who doubted themselves.
Tonight’s announcement came after an evening of entertaining performances by some of SA’s most popular musicians, including Musa Keys, Sir Trill, Mafikizolo and Oskido, who shared the stage with Idols SA season 16 alumnus Ndoni and Meez.
Season 16 “Idols SA” winner Zama performed “‘Is’thunzi”, from her debut album, ‘In the Beginning’, while the rest of this season’s top 10 returned to the stage one more time for electrifying performances.
Karabo, who first auditioned for the competition as a shy 17-year-old back in season 12, may have not won the competition, but she certainly left a lasting impression.

Tracey Lange Kfm 94.5, radio host is taking her knitting passion to the next level and is inviting her friends to join in for Mandela Day.
Lange hosts the weekday mid-morning show. A selected number of listeners and fans will be able to join a live, interactive, 67-minute online knit along with Lange and celebrity friends on July 18 at 12.30pm.
The virtual event will be a fun and engaging session while guests knit items to be distributed to charities in need of warm winter items.
#GeknitDitMetTraceyLange started in 2020 when Lange took up knitting during lockdown.
She initially started knitting as a way to stay occupied during lockdown, but her hobby soon grew into a larger initiative as her listeners, fans, and followers rallied behind her call to knit for charity.
“A project that started as a way to keep my hands busy and out of the fridge during lockdown has now grown into something much bigger than I could’ve imagined,” said Lange.
“I nearly forgot about the project this year, but the listeners of Kfm 94.5 commented daily from March, asking when they can start knitting to help those in need, proving again just how big the hearts of South Africans are. That the need to help and make the lives of others just a little better is in everyone.”
She said they have already collected many items from people who have already knitted this year and that was before they even knew which organisations would be benefiting from it.
“Mandela Day is such a beautiful reminder to share our humanity and to help our neighbours, and this year’s ‘GeknitDit’ guests are going to be so much fun. I can just imagine what these guys and girls are going to get up to – I can’t wait! Make sure you catch every hilarious stitch on Facebook Live,” said Lange.
Other celebrities getting woven in for the good cause include Stormers and Springbok rugby star Juan de Jongh, YouTube sensation Devdon Did It, singer Amy Jones, actor Tim Theron, comedian Alfred Adriaan, entertainer Loukmaan Adams, and special guest Agne Bezuidenhoudt, fondly known as Ma Agnes – the oldest person in the Western Cape.
Lange will also be joined by Kfm presenters Ricky Schroeder, and EB Inglis, and CapeTalk presenter Lester Kiewit.
Lalela Mswane Makes History As The First Black Woman To Win Miss Supranational [WATCH]
On Friday, July 15, reigning Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane represented Mzansi at the 13th Miss Supranational pageant in Strzelecki Park Amphitheatre in Nowy Sącz, Poland.
The 24-year-old stood out from the contestants from 69 countries and was crowned Miss Supranational 2022.
The judges were impressed by her national costume dress that pays tribute to her Zulu heritage.
It was designed by Cape Town-based Lloyd Kandlin, responsible for creating the costume worn by Miss South Africa 2019, Zozibini Tunzi, who went on to become Miss Universe that year.
Kandlin was inspired by the vibrant colours and designs of South African prints.
“The idea with the costume was to find a balance in the chaos of our everyday lives, which is why I’ve used a vibrant print but carefully balanced it in perfect symmetry.”

And for the crowning glory where Namibia’s Chanique Rabe handed over the reins, the KwaSokhulu beauty donned a gold dress designed by William de Beer, owner of Willetdesigns Couture.
Said Mswane after the pageant: “I am overwhelmed; at the moment, it still feels surreal. I am deeply thankful to all the amazing people who have supported and uplifted me, I couldn’t have done it without them.
“I want to thank the organisers of Miss Supranational, the Polish people, all my fellow contestants, the Miss South Africa Organisation and my South African fans. This title is not mine alone, it is South Africa’s victory.”
Mswane was crowned Miss Universe 2021 second runner-up in December last year. This August, she will be handing over her Miss SA crown to one lucky lady.

DJ Zinhle Reveals Just How Bad The Bullies Are In Her DMs
DJ Zinhle is growing increasingly tired of trolls hopping in her DMs and trying to tell her how to live her life.
“Please do not send me DMs trolling me about decisions I choose to make about MY life,” she shared on her Instagram Stories this morning. “I’ve even mastered spotting those kinda messages and deleting them without reading them.”
“If you wanna bully me, do it openly, not in my DMs. It’s so bad, bullies will even send me messages on the Era account. Wow you guys are committed!”
Lately, Zinhle has been receiving a lot of criticism for her warm, public co-parenting relationship with rapper AKA, who is the father to her first child Kairo Forbes.
The latest round on criticism has been swirling the internet for the past few hours since she posted a happy birthday message for Lynn Forbes, who is AKA’s mother.
Still seemingly riled up by all the chatter around her personal life, Zinhle also took to her Twitter feed earlier today to share an observation.
“Saw a tweet from a lady who is excited that someone surprised her with a pair of heels… instead of celebrating with her, someone went on to tell her how uncomfortable that brand of shoes is.. ay Twitter Ngeke 😂😂😂”
